Winnetka, in Northern Illinois, is a film location of Home Alone. The famous house is nestled in a beautiful neighborhood with a nearby (about two blocks) shopping district. The Home (as of November 2025) is going through renovations, with a sign hinting at the film. Will it be a residence... or something more? Multiple people come to gaze at the house daily, usually taking a picture outside the fence with the nostalgic home.

Down the street is a Winnetka shopping district- filled with historical architecture, a toy store, and a coffee and juice cafe (Hometown Coffee & Juice). We enjoyed the homemade pastries, fresh juice, and espresso before while to the Home Alone House!

The shopping district offers free parking- perfect for strolling the neighborhood and visiting the shops. Just down the road (about a mile) is a beach with a beach playground. The playground is fun for big and little kids, while the beach (located on Lake Michigan) offers a beautiful site. This playground is called Tower Road park -and Tower Road Beach.
